Breaking the Cycle

OVERVIEW

Client success is due not only to stable housing, but to the links to Community support that assists and supports people as they move to being appropriately housed.

Staff and Community individuals, organizations, and levels of government have partnered in creating programs that range from formal mentorship in financial and life skills, to skills training programs that lead directly to employment.

These are the programs that, once housing and food have been established, provide a key to the success of individuals who are risk.

These programs depend on your support to continue. Please give generously.

Donations may be directed towards a particular program simply by naming the Program at the time of your gift by cheque or Visa.

OUTREACH

Lookout has worked in partnership with local home-owners since 1989 to provide housing to clientele who are able to live independently with the aid of our Tenant Support or Outreach workers.

Established in November 1990, the Outreach Program provides short-term bridging and follow-up services to approximately 2,500 people. These are people who repeatedly are in emergency situations. This also includes special support to hotels providing accommodation to Lookout clientele able to live more independently than the Supportive/2nd Stage Housing Program. (more)

This program teaches and models financial well being.

Participants sign a Savings Plan Agreement, committing to save up to $1000 over the course of one year, with a minimum of $300... (more)

Christmas Celebration
Christmas is the time of year that our thoughts turn fondly to family gatherings and special foods and gifts.

But for many, those plans are out of reach.

We are very pleased to work with our Communities across Greater Vancouver in order to provide a celebration for our clients and guests at this time of year.

Individuals and corporate teams take a special moment

  • to bake, and drop off baked goods at our Shelters,
  • to schedule time to help decorate,
  • to donate new gifts to those who have little or nothing,
  • to volunteer to wrap

Everyone receives a small gift, from those in permanent supportive housing, those in Shelters, and to the person still living on the streets, in contact with our Outreach Teams. (more)
