| I's on the street
There's a new social enterprise in New Westminster that helps and supports those who live on, or close to the street, and/or who are mental health clients. I's on the Street, a work and training opportunity that provides connection to community, work experience, and pocket money -- and so much more, including increased self esteem and a sense of belonging.

Sponsored and run by the New Westminster Homeless Coalition (NWHC), of which Lookout is a part, "I's" -- slang for "I is..." and named by a past participant, I's on the Street operates three mornings a week doing street cleanup in the New Westminster Downtown.
Startup funding was provided by the New Westminster Community Development Society, the program is a collaborative solution as funds are administered through the NWHC, and is supported by the New Westminster Business Improvement Association.

Although a new program, successes are recognized as individuals who have lived on the streets for 9 years are moving into housing, accessing health services, and inquiring into skills training -- all with the caring support of Outreach workers, who play a large role in this initiative.
